Week 1: Presence And Proximity

Read: James 4:8

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you…(ESV)

Reflect: God does not withhold himself from us. We only need to draw near.

Read: Philippians 4:5-7

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (NIV)

Reflect: Don’t worry, pray about all of it, and His peace will cover you. Make a gratitude list for all that God has done; your faith will grow.

Read: Acts 17:26-27

From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any of us. (NIV)

Reflect: The One who made the whole world wants to be near to you.

Week 2: God Is Here

Read: Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (ESV)

Reflect: Our strength doesn’t come from within, it comes from reliance on God who invites us to partner with Him each day. It’s a daily task of reminding ourselves that He is here with us, walking with us, speaking to us and moving with us into every area for His glory.

Read: Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.(ESV)

Reflect: God cares about each thing we go through. Anxiety wells up when we lose focus on Jesus and everything He has for us. It gets stronger when we forget that He has always been there for us and that he will never abandon us. Trust that God is bigger than whatever we come against.

Read: Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (ESV)

Reflect: Trust that God has created you with and given you everything you need to walk through the seasons of life He is walking you into.

Read: Philippians 1:6
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (ESV)

Read: Deuteronomy 31:8
”It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” (ESV)

For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (CSB)

Reflect: God’s love is sacrificial, offering the free gift of eternal life to all who believe in His Son.

Read: Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (CSB)

Reflect:  Nothing in existence, neither death nor life, can sever us from the boundless love of God in Christ Jesus.

Read: 1 John 4:9-10 9

God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10 Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. (CSB)

Reflect: God’s love is manifested in sending His Son to redeem us, showcasing his love for us that he took the first step toward relationship with his people.

Read: Jeremiah 31:3

The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you. (CSB)

Week 4 Reflection

Week 5: Light of the World

Read: John 12:46

“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.“ (ESV)

Reflect: Have you ever thought about the fact that we have no idea what the world must’ve been like before Jesus? According to what Jesus says, he came into the world so that those who believe in Him would not remain in darkness. Jesus came into the world and with Him he brought something new. He brought hope, change, and light. Even now, you and I do not remain in darkness because the light of the world made a way.

Read: John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (ESV)

Reflect: Have you experienced true and complete darkness? The kind of darkness where you can violently wave your hand in front of your face and still not see your own hand? This darkness can only happen when there is a complete void of light. In order for true darkness to exist, light must not exist. In that way, Jesus being the light of the world, it is impossible for darkness to prevail in your life. When you’ve placed your faith in Jesus, darkness can not stand. Light will always prevail. What a comforting and assuring thing to know that Jesus is the light of the world. The world is no longer the home of darkness.

Read: Ephesians 5:8

For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (ESV)

Reflect: What a crazy thing that Jesus actually reproduces the light through us: his children. Think on that for a moment, Jesus, the light of the world who took on all sin and shame on the cross for us, he rose again and then he continued to bring light into the world through his children. That is God's purpose for your faith. That you would reflect the light of Jesus to the world.

Read: Colossians 1:13-14

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (ESV)

Reflect:  One of the biggest stumbling blocks for mankind is to believe that we didn’t need saving. Think about your life before Jesus. Does “domain of darkness” ring a bell? Does it sound like a former house you lived in? That was your reality before Jesus stepped in. Spend some time thinking about the darkness you would be living in without Jesus.

Read: Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (ESV)

Reflect:  Have you ever been out in the woods at night? As a missionary kid I grew up hunting for wild boar late into the night. With the trees hiding the night sky, darkness would set in and without a flashlight not a thing could be seen. When David wrote 119:105 I imagine the specifics of what it must’ve been like to walk out into the wilderness before flashlights. He probably carried a small clay jar with a candle in it. Just enough to see what his next steps were going to be like. It was just enough light to comfort him and remind him that he’s still there. What could be different about your life, if you spoke this verse over your life? If you were to say father, your word is a lamp to my feet — for when I can’t see what’s ahead but I can see that I’m on solid ground. God, your word is a light on my path. I may not see where it leads but your light leads the way. What could be different about your life, if you stepped into that place of faith. Trusting the word of our heavenly father to be the light and lamp for our life. What would be different?

Weekend Reflection - Review a verse, memorize it, pray over it & attend a service.

Week 5 Reflection

Week 6: Prince of Peace

Read: John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (NIV)

Reflect: Jesus left us his peace. We can let our hearts rest in that.

Read: Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (NIV)

Reflect: We will have peace when we trust Him!

Read: Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. (NIV)

Reflect: We can let God’s peace direct our heart, while in gratitude we remember all that He has done for us.

Read: Psalm 4:8/p>

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. (NLT)

Reflect:  We can let God’s peace cover our hearts and minds while we rest.

Read: 1 Peter 5:7

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (NIV)

Reflect:  God loves us and wants us to bring Him those things that trouble and concern us.
